The Artistic Pulse of Darkness

This old residence was once considered a “space to be given up.” Low ceiling height, fragmented circulation, structural columns blocking light, and a narrow, enclosed staircase all contributed to a poor living experience.
But we always believe that space is simply waiting for a new structural relationship. Design is not only about creating the new—it is also about rewriting possibilities within the old.

We relocated the original central staircase to the south side of the house, dramatically improving natural light throughout the space.
Sunlight now flows into the first floor from the south, and the second floor's previously fragmented hallway was transformed into a continuous space, with a new study area created at the staircase landing.
The staircase is not just a means of circulation—it redefines the way of living.

In terms of materials, we emphasized “softness within strength.”

Matte white lacquer, fine-grained stone, and the cool gleam of stainless steel contrast and converse with warm oak finishes and upholstered textile walls.

Changes in height, the interplay between gloss and matte, and subtle material transitions create refined layers throughout the space.

Behind the minimalism lies intense, deliberate thought.

User experience has always been the core consideration of this project.

We focus not only on the visual beauty of form, but also on how the residents feel understood in every corner.

The path of natural light, the flow of air, the scale of furniture, the tactile sensation of materials underfoot—all are part of the dialogue between the designer and daily life.

The homeowner originally planned to sell the house, but after the renovation, decided to stay.
What changed was not just the appearance, but the relationship with living itself—spaces became open, emotions found calm, and the meaning of “home” was rediscovered.
The most moving part of design is not how it looks, but the sense of belonging it creates.

I don’t believe in the so-called “moment of inspiration.”
Every choice, every proportion is the result of ongoing reflection.
A designer’s true value lies not in expressing a style, but in making precise decisions within constraints to create meaningful and functional spatial relationships.

This project adopts a minimalist approach—but minimalism is not emptiness.
Black, white, and grey create the base, while elements like an artistic blue accent chair, Hermès grey marble flooring, and dark mirrored surfaces provide rhythm and visual relief.
The more restrained the palette, the more precise the details must be. Every deviation or accent must earn its place.

This is not a minimalist space made for show—it’s built for real daily life.
There are no exaggerated forms, no deliberate flashiness—only details that become more natural over time.
Minimalism is not about removing everything; it’s about keeping only what matters.
