Modern Rhythm, Harmonized Style

For this 400㎡ duplex home, our goal was never to follow a specific style. Instead, we traced the owner’s personal journey—his years of living abroad, visiting design fairs, and absorbing global aesthetics—and translated that into a non-stylized spatial expression. We envisioned a home that reflects his art, emotions, and inner world.

The hard finishes are intentionally restrained, with minimalism as the underlying language. Instead of ornate detailing, we explored the balance between stone, wood veneer, and lime-washed walls to allow materials to breathe. Large-format floor tiles, grey-toned walls, and metal baseboards create a calm, neutral palette. The layout focuses on openness and flow—natural light and visual continuity guide the design.

In the furnishings, we introduced a bold mix of cultural elements. Italian brand PIANCA is known for its fluid lines, which we paired with a custom American-style sofa for a layered, comfortable living space. The chandelier—a signature piece by GALLO—combines brass branches and glowing glass, creating tension between vintage and futuristic. These contrasting styles coexist in harmony, not conflict.

What sets this home apart is the absence of a fixed “style.” As an international trader, the homeowner has traveled the world and developed his own design sensibilities. He didn’t want a magazine-perfect replica of any aesthetic—he wanted to bring the beauty he’s encountered into his home. Through the rhythm of architecture and decor, we turned global diversity into something deeply personal.

A dimensional artwork, encased in acrylic, pairs a gilded Venetian-style frame with a sleek marble base—where centuries of craft meet contemporary clarity.

One of the project’s key challenges was spatial restructuring. We opened up the once-segmented living and dining rooms to create sightlines that run from the floor-to-ceiling windows through to the kitchen and garden. Above the dining space, we added a mezzanine as a quiet reading and resting zone. Each bedroom was redesigned around its inhabitant’s personality—especially the children’s rooms, where colors and textures narrate different stages of growth.

Design is not about layering endlessly—it’s about mindful editing. From the raw state of the home, we worked alongside the owner to discuss every material, every corner’s view, even the color temperature of each light. In the end, we didn’t build a “beautiful” home—we shaped one that truly belongs to him. That sense of belonging is both emotional and aesthetic.

No single label can define this home. It has the refinement of Italian furniture, the comfort of American proportions, and the poetry of Eastern objects. Contemporary rhythm, blended aesthetics, and cultural movement have all quietly found their place here. As the owner said: “I don’t want it to look like anyone else—I want it to look like me.”
